More About Tinos

Tinos is part of the Cycladic group of islands. The island is surrounded by Andros, Syros and Mykonos, and can be found on the north side of the Aegean Sea.

Tinos is linked by normal ferris to Andros (1 hour and a half), Mykonos (40 minutes), Naxos (1 hour and a half), Paros (2 hours), Syros (30 minutes) and Santorini (7 hours). Apart from the mainland, Tinos is also linked to other Aegean islands by normal ferries and hydrofoils that connect Tinos to Mykonos (20 minutes).

Forty white little picturesque villages, more than 700 churches and monasteries, immaculate dovecotes and beautiful sandy and pebble beaches are the elements that create the wonderful island of Tinos.

Still unknown by the majority of foreign tourists, Tinos mostly attracts Greek pilgrims travelling there to see and touch the miraculous healing icon of the Virgin Mary, that was found in 1822.The believers take part in the two annual religious pilgrimages, on March 25 and August 15, when the miraculous icon is carried down the harbour over the heads of the faithful.

Tinos ferry port

Tinos is a very interesting place to visit. One can enjoy its unspoiled architecture, its picturesque villages, its beautiful beaches and its traditional culture and way of living that is still present.

Tinos is the ideal place for lovers of nature, architecture, art and traditions, and really the perfect answer to these expectations.

If you're looking for mass tourism and crowded beaches, then this destination is not for you. Tinos is an island for those who appreciate the old ways and lifestyle of the islanders, the authentic picturesque villages that one hopes to find on a Greek island, and the simple Greek cuisine that Greece itself is famous for. Here on Tinos, it's back to basics.

When you first arrive to Tinos Town, you will certainly be thinking that the previous paragraph applies to a totally different island, and that we've made a drastic mistake in our text. Rest assured, however, that the hustle and bustle of the town does not apply to the rest of the island!

During the summer months and on the weekends, the town is throbbing with activity, primarily due to Greek visitors here to pay homage to the Holy Virgin at the famous Church of the Panagia. Unfortunately for many of them, they do not have the opportunity to visit the rest of the island, as most visitors for the Church stay only a few hours or for only one night.

The rest of the island lies undiscovered and its beaches remain ever so inviting. It is here on Tinos that our agency began 32 years ago. While Tinos itself reflects the past, our agency and our services are very much in the present. We offer a wide variety of accommodation, all clean and comfortable, with an emphasis on Greek hospitality and beautiful scenery.
